Red Pandas are the only true Pandas. Single member of its family and discovered 75 before the Giant Pandas.
Feral Dogs are the second largest problem for the Red Panda survival. Every year as much as 40 % of the wild Red Panda population get affected by either Hunting or Canine Distemper disease. Habre’s Nest team is dedicated to the cause of eradicating ferraldogs from the Red Panda habitat. Our main expense is the vaccination drive funded by Tourism.
Red Panda is a Himalayan Ecosystem Indicator species which gives us knowledge about the stability of this fragile and significant ecosystem. Singalila is the best place to explore them in the Wild.
After all this effort of expedition, a Red Panda sight won’t disappoint you as the sightings are from a fairly close distance. You will instantly fall in love with the gentle nature of this charismatic and colorful animal.
Red Pandas are Endangered animals, remaining less than 2000 in the Wild and in very high threat of going extinct in the Wild due to the Rapid Habitat Loss and Rampant Poaching. Save them by joining hands with us.
Habre’s Nest Red Panda Expedition is worlds longest running wild Red Panda census fueled by Sustainable Red Panda Tourism. Just by participating in our expeditions you contribute to science for the wild Red Pandas.
Habre’s Nest is dedicated to the cause of saving the Wild Red Pandas. Our team petrol the forest every day to stop and minimize the Red Panda poaching. We also do other activities like- Dog vaccination, Habitat restoration, Medical camps etc. All of these are funded by Tourism.
Pandas in the mist 🙂 I stayed with my wife and four friends in Habre's nest for five days, and it was a wonderful time. The place is very nice and relaxed - situated with a view to the surrounding forest. The local food is good and the people are very friendly and helpful. We saw a lot of fine birds, but much more important was the two prolonged sightings of Red Panda. When the guides have located a resting panda, one are lead to the place, and you are allowed to watch it at distance approximately 25 meters for half an hour. That is a magnificent experience!!
An amazing trip to see red pandas! What an amazing trip to Habre's Nest! We spent 4 nights there and enjoyed it thoroughly. We saw 6 red pandas and many beautiful birds. The rooms were very comfortable and even though it got cold at night without any heat, the bedding kept us very warm. The guides were all fantastic. They were able to track and spot pandas at quite a distance. We were very fortunate to get close enough to take good pictures with just a cell phone! The food was excellent as well. Ok, the road to get there was difficult, but well worth it!
You all over exceeded, by an unmanageable amount, our expectations of what it would be like to track down a wild red panda. You cater to every need, the food was outstanding, the rooms are supremely comfortable (thank you for choosing such comfortable linen), the tea service, the hot water bottle.The dedication of the trackers and the baseline philosophy and conservation objectives have left no more than utterly impressed.
Habres nest was amazing, for Nature Lovers who would like to see the beautiful forest and a chance to see a Red Panda, this is definitely the place to go, travelling to Habres nest takes time and patience, the roads in some sections are not great but its definitely worth the journey. The staff were all wonderful and helpful, we managed to see 9 Red Pandas during our 5 night stay, much more than I had ever expected to see, Habres Nest was the highlight of our trip and I would love to return one day !
Lovely friendly lodge, Great stay at Habres Nest looking for red pandas. We were lucky to see four pandas over our 5 day stay. The entire team from Shantanu to the guides to the chef and his team were welcoming and friendly. The drivers having to bring us in/out over the mountains were excellent. The meals were delicious. It was cold in the mornings as there was no heating (the generator is only on in the evenings) but there was hot water.
